MY Visit (Pt 2) - Work and Still Trying to Play!

8th Sep (Mon)

Spent the morning and early part of the afternoon in the Uptown office... Met the customer service management, visited the call centre, had alignment meetings and sat in for call attachment for 4 markets! At least I finally get to see the customer service operation... And the call centre looks quite nice actually... doesn't look like a call centre at all! It's in the same building as the district office... And the area is quite convenient... if only SG district office is located in such convenient place....

Met up with telesales in the afternoon... They are based in one of the stations which is a little ulu... sat in for some calls to understand the market condition and it was already end of the business day...

Went back to hotel and had 肉骨茶 dinner at One Utama... and then back to hotel to clear email! *faint*

9th Sep (Tue)

We had station visit and courier rides in the morning... Observed the morning sort operation and I was out with one of the courier to visit some customers... Good to hear that customers are happy with our service! The courier was trying to play tour guide too and kept introducing the places we pass by...

Back to district office to meet the country MD... Good to know that he's a nice and approachable man.... Hang around to do some work after that and it was time to go back to the hotel...

Went to One Utama for dinner again and walked around a bit... Saw this Samsonite suitcase on sale... Super cheap at just hundred plus SGD... Couldn't resist temptation and bought it... And I had to abandon my long serving suitcase in KL! It was the same suitcase that went with me on my first solo trip and almost all my biz trips... It has got lots of sentimental value... it's wearing out quite badly actually but there were so many times that I just couldn't bear to throw it away... Anyway, I helped the suitcase to take its last photo...

10th Sep (Wed)

Woke up freaking early to reach the KL gateway at 7.30am... It was an hour drive away from the hotel lor! Anyway, went there to check out the operation, clearance department and the custom delay notification team...

Went back to the station (which takes another 1 hour ride to reach!) to meet up with the sales account executive to go out on some sales calls with her... Met some customers and again good to know there is no major problem...

Spent so much time travelling... Super tiring... Grabbed a quite bite during dinner time and went back to hotel to rest before my ex-colleagues came and pick me up for a drink later at night.... We headed to The Curve... Went to this drinking place called The Apartment... as the name suggests, the place is pretty much decorated like an apartment with cosy sofa and all... And it has 3 floors in all! Quite a big apartment that is!

The menu/ drink list...

The sofa we slacked on upstairs... And my rather strong strawberry margarita...

11th Sep (Thu)

Another super early morning! Gotta check out and catch the 9.15am flight to Penang...

While touching down at Penang, to my surprise, the first thing I saw was my company plane which was parked pretty near to the runway! Super excited!

Checked in to our supposingly 5 star hotel accomodation but it really reminds me of the hotel in the 80s... Met the sales manager for lunch and she brought us to try some really nice teochew mee sua... After lunch, we went out with an account executive for some sales call... One of the customers actually studies music in Germany and is now owner of a music instrument shop/ music school... Interesting to know that we have some violins and cellos in our shipment...

Manage to buy some 豆沙餅 at the famous Him Heang (according to the account executive) for my parents... In the evening, my manager and I went to Gunney Drive Food Court for some local food - Penang laksa, prawn mee and char kuay teow... The Penang laksa is really quite yummy...

12th Sep (Fri)

Last day in MY! Visited the Penang gateway operation... As the ramp operation is handled by our own staff and not agent, I had the chance to have an aircraft tour! In fact, we have a destinatd bay to park our aircraft which is less than 100m from our gateway office.. It feels like parking car in front of the house!

Me and our aircraft!

We also went into the body of the aircraft... And the cockpit too! The tour is definitely my highlight for the trip!
