Comfort Food

The plan to go to Ocean Park today was cancelled at the very last minute due to some "mishap"...

Got colder today and it's going to be real cold over the next two days (as low as 10 degrees *gasp*)... so the best thing to do is to stay home... And have a warm and hearty meal of beef stew...

How to cook? Easy lah....

Here are the ingredients... Beef (cut into cubes), onion, potato, carrot, celery and beef stock cubes...

First, prepare beef stock with the beef stock cubes and hot water...

Add some oil to the wok, then fry the beef cubes til the 4 sides turn brown... and then add the beef stock in... Once the beef stock boils, turn the fire down and simmer for an hour...

Meanwhile, prepare the veggie - peel the carrot and potato, and then chop chop chop everything up into cubes or chunks... Add the veggie in when the meat has been cooked for an hour... go on simmering for another hour... this is work in progress...

Cook until the veggie is soft and the meat is tender... Can watch TV and check on it every 10 minutes or so....

*Ta da* My beef stew... best comfort food for winter!!!
